OUR AMAZONS
The amazing Amazon parrots come from different locations in Latin
America. These parrots' plumage is mostly green with variations of
bright colors, mostly on their heads. Amazons vary greatly in sizes, from
smaller White Fronted Amazon to larger Yellow Naped Amazon.
Amazons are quite popular and are known for their wonderful talking
parks. Unlike African Greys, these birds enjoy attention and readily show
off in front of large groups of people. Amazons easily learn tricks and
readily demonstrate them to anyone who wants to watch!
Amazons require consistent training and interaction. Some birds  may
develop biting issues when they undergo hormonal changes or when
they reach maturity if they are not provided with consistent training,
handling, and interaction.
Amazons are known to live up to 80 years of age.  These birds can be
quite noisy and will do better in a roomy cage with extensive time out of
the cage, interacting with their family members.
Amazons are prone to obesity if fed seeds only and require a wide
variety of foods including pellets, fruits, and veggies to stay healthy.
Most common amazons kept as pets are Double Yellow Headed, Yellow
Naped, Blue Fronted, Lilac Crown, Orange Wing, and White Fronted
Amazons.
At Beaks and Paws we raise Double Yellow Headed, Yellow Naped, Blue
Fronted, Lilac Crown, Mexican Red Headed or Green Cheeked, White
Fronted or Spectacled, Orange Winged, Hispaniolan, and Panama
Amazons.
