Colorful Conures come from South America and are small to medium size birds known for their
sweet disposition and comical cuddly personalities. These birds can learn to talk and perform
tricks. Conures love to interact with their owner, and they will readily sit on the owners' shoulder,
groom their hair, share a plate of food with them, or take showers. Conures are very busy and
active birds and require roomy cages and plenty of toys, climbing ropes and ladders to keep
themselves occupied.
Conures can be little clowns, especially Green Cheeked Conures, and will frequently sleep on their
backs and will perform a number of other funny tricks. These birds are great for a first time bird
owner and make amazing pets for children.
Conures are known to live up to 30 years and do better on a pelleted rather than seed diet. They
also enjoy fresh fruits and veggies.
The most common types of conures kept as pets are Green Cheeks of various mutations, Suns,
Blue Crown, and Nandays.
At Beaks and Paws we raise Green Cheeks (normal, cinnamon, yellow sided, pineapple, and
turquoise mutations), Suns (normal and red factor), Nandays, Blue Crown, and Cherry Headed
Conures.
